Those of you who have been around for a while know I am not a fan of packing. Call that a first world issue or whatever you want to but I don’t like it.
It always gets done because when you have moved as often as I have and done the things I have done to move heaven and earth there are no other options.
Sometimes body and soul ache because life has its moment so you know it is time to go home. You know you have been elsewhere for too long and it’s time to recharge and restore.
That’s where I am at now.
It became crystal clear on my birthday for a host of reasons and so I was glad I had set some plans in motion.
There may be somethings I am less good at following through on but there are others that at best can be slowed down but not stopped.
Told the doc when he said to see the cardiologist something similar and smiled.
Summer Is My Favorite Season
My daughter called from California and I spent time confirming plans and helped make sure she knew how to get to where she was going.
I wasn’t surprised to hear that she did even if she didn’t know all of the street names. She still lived in LA longer than anywhere else though her time in Texas is quickly catching up.
So I made a point to run through street names and freeway exits so that she could anticipate by name as well as landmark.
Told her about how her plans reminded me of summer and that summer is my favorite season. We may be just short of the summer solstice and official start of the season but it is close enough.
Soon I’ll be able to put my feet in the sand again and listen to the sounds that accompany a real beach.
Soon saltwater and I shall shake hands again and for a moment I’ll think about a day when I am retired.
****
Been going through clothes and retiring some older items. Been going through stuff and retiring older things too because not everything needs to be dragged through life with us.
Been thinking more and more about the blogs and what to do with them. Took down a post today that has been getting hammered with spam comment for months.
The spam catcher has been pretty effective at catching them but I want to see what happens if the target is removed.
It is unusual for me to ever take down a post and I have rarely done it. Occasionally I have been asked by people to remove things and have done it, but again that has been rare.
The few times I have been asked it has been in reference to things I thought were unlikely to cause any issues. In some cases I have refused to do so because I didn’t appreciate how I was approached.
Tell me that I have to do something and you’re unlikely to see it happen. Tell me a second time and you might see me duplicate the effort of whatever you didn’t like.
Ask me to help you with something and there is a good chance I will and if not it probably means we have engaged in a good faith discussion about it.
I have never understood the entitlement of and irrational nonsense of some people.
For a current example take the antizionists who insist that you can’t stop Hamas because it is an idea and you can’t crush ideas. They usually pause and then tell you in the next breath that Zionism has to be wiped out.
Strangely enough they can’t see the hypocrisy in that, but I tend not to worry about that because we live in two different worlds.
Anyhoo, we’ll parrot the Brady Bunch and say when it is time to change you have to rearrange who you are and what you are going to do with yourself.
Epilogue
This post has gotten a fair amount of play since posting, probably because of the headline as has the cardiologist post which I am guessing again is because of the headline.
Lots of stuff going on, lots of things happening–that quote really works for this moment and I suppose for others too.
