Kid at the gym wants to know if I have tried some filter that is supposed to take 20 years off of my face and I shake my head no.
“Don’t you want to see what you used to look like?”
I shake my head no and tell him I earned the current look.
“I thought old people worked out to try and be more youthful.”
“You know in my youth I liked to punch fools in the mouth. Still kind of like it, don’t need a gym to help with that.”
He can’t figure out if I am serious or messing with him and that is how I like it.
“You know I might have a lifetime of unfinished business, or maybe just 20 or so years of it. All depends on perspective. Main thing I need from this place is to help take the edge off and make sure I can keep walking when I finally get old.
Hell, I narrated it all to Jack and Johnny and put it all down on pixels.”
As I walk away I make a note to go find a Josh Turner video that is a mix of something he made with his wife in 2005 and updated a year ago.
You Know What I Want
Got the Fab Four playing Let It Be in my ears and remind myself the truth of the lyrics that there will be an answer.
An answer to what?
To the question about unfinished business of course, don’t be ridiculous. You know what I want?
Probably not, you know part of what I want and the part you don’t know is vast.
Hell, I have a lot of unfinished business because that isn’t limited to conversations with people but includes experiences I have yet to have or wish to have again.
The thing about experiences is that sometimes you need to do them again at the age you are at, with the experience you have and at the place you are at.
Because life changes you and you need to get back like Jojo and go deep. Get back to where you once belonged and find out what you didn’t or couldn’t
I hold myself accountable for some of this by writing it down.
Circumstances change, people change and what you loved, hated or were ambivalent changes too. Sometimes that plays in your favor and sometimes it plays against you but in the course of evolving sometimes you need to go back so that you can go forward.
Sometimes people tell me life is about to get interesting and I nod my head but I rarely tell them that life got interesting a long time ago and has pretty much stayed that way.
Been through a few things here and there and maybe that is part of why carry that weight resonates with me, but then again multiple other parts of the medley do as well.
Got a link with all of the boys for those who wish to listen to that as well as Sir Paul’s live version.
