Some people say things happen for a reason and maybe that is why I notice the empty yahrzeit candle on the counter.
Maybe it was the old man reaching out from Olam Ha-Bah, the world to come to suggest that when trouble came looking I should let it keep looking.
Or maybe it is all coincidence because there are lots of reasons why I could have come across the empty jar on a day when someone figured out how to get my attention.
I looked trouble in the eye and gave it my finest glare and heard about I have a mean streak and walked away because that was the best of two options.
Jumped back into the ancestry work and saw someone had linked a bunch of crap to my paternal grandmother’s side and shook my head…again.
Even if you don’t read Hebrew it’s not hard to find a person or source to translate the stone. My father and great-grandfather shared the same Hebrew name, Aharon is how it is written in English.
Aaron.
Not complicated.
Not close to Eli.
Not spelled the same way in English or Hebrew.
Gah, it obviously irks me to see some of the sloppy research.
Thought about Dad for multiple reasons because our cousin Art just died. He was my father’s first cousin and he was 97.
Grandpa Aaron died before Art was born so neither he nor dad knew him, but they knew stories.
Heck, Art knew plenty and he was the guy who told me a bit about my grandmother’s first husband. I didn’t know about him until Dad mentioned him in passing to me.
Dad didn’t focus on the past and in some areas you knew what he thought you needed and nothing more.
Write What You Know
Have You Seen The Queen is a classic example of that. It is probably not what you think it is.
It is probably different from what you expect, but what do I know. I am just some guy sitting in the dark waiting around for a particular moment.
Sorry, I am still fired up a little bit.
There was a momentary interruption in the broadcast of this very fine post in which I had to ask if some folks really want to hear my honest opinion.
People say they want it. People say they want the truth and then you when you give it to them they are shocked that is it not coated in honey or doused in strawberries and whip cream.
But what do you expect, the same people who chanted “lock her up” and declared themselves fans of the law/order claim that application of said law/order is persecution.
They claim to be in favor of free speech but whine when they find out they will be held accountable for free speech.
I shouldn’t be surprised by the hypocrisy of those who say they pro freedom but would force a 10 year-old girl to give birth and claim that all of the testimony given to a Bipartisan commission is biased.
A couple of years ago the people giving said testimony were fine Republicans working for the administration and to be admired.
But the moment they share what they saw, heard and witnessed they are suddenly untrustworthy and unreliable sources.
Funny how they were the very best until someone said something they didn’t like.
But what do I know, I never joined the cult of personality and am guilty of saying the emperor has no clothes.
Anyhoo, I don’t expect rational thought from most people especially those so divorced from reality they apply blinders to their eyes and let democracy be attacked.
And those who are what we call Members of the Tribe are among the very worst because they ought to know better than to believe the crocodile won’t eat them.
Maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually.
My aforementioned cousin Art and I talked about it more than once. He talked about what he saw and experienced as a kid.
He told me a bit about his time in D-Day when he fought the Nazis overseas.
Fast forward 60 some years and some of the people who have the privilege to be free because of his sacrifice walk around with sticks in their eyes.
But again, if I point out the Confederate flag isn’t just about Southern pride but is representative of traitors to the Union and those who believed in slavery I am accused of being woke.
I wonder what some of those people would say if I said I wanted to do the same with a swastika.
Let’s be clear, that won’t ever happen. I might be a little crazy but I am not a myopic dope who is willfully blind.
But I digress.
Did I mention I know of a dozen new voters who plan on voting for Beto. Might not be enough, but then again it might be.
Can’t say where this all leads but the damn fight is far from over.
Go To The Doc
That last subhead is a message to myself, a reminder it is time to set up an appointment to take care of some stuff.
Got to take a gander at the local gym and some more equipment for the house.
Great-Grandfather Aaron died way too young as did too many of his children. That DNA is floating around inside me and I don’t want to give it a foothold.
Got plenty of longevity on mom’s side and a bit on the old man so there is plenty of reason to believe the thread I am working on isn’t quite at the end.
If not I can always go with my paternal grandfather’s suggestion and punch death in the throat and then kick him in the knees.
The doc said grandpa should have died 10 years before he did so who I figure I can take his suggestion and go even harder at death, if she should come.
Got lots to do and see and some of you would be awfully disappointed if I disappeared so I think we’ll continue to work on not hearing a loud voice say “Josh has left the building.”

First, this is your fault because I rarely share links like this, but you said something I agree with (you didn’t ask lol) and I feel compelled to share this: https://youtu.be/-6UMJCIiaYQ
Actually, I agree with everything you’ve said in this article, although I’m not feeling strong about Beto having a chance; if a governor like yours can mess up so much and still hold a 7-point lead, I think it’s a lost cause, but we can be hopeful. As for the rest, even though I’m a liberal, I’ll sometimes call things out that I think are dangerous, such as this push about killing the filibuster. People seem to forget that without having it things would have been a lost worse during Obama’s administration, where the Dems had to use it often. Stupid doesn’t always go in one direction… just the motives do.

I don’t mind the link sharing, it is good sometimes to get that out there and it never hurts to put a face to someone. This isn’t the first video of yours I have seen but it might be for others.
Beto has a chance but it is going to require the independents and those who don’t normally vote to get out. We’ll see what happens after Abbott’s war chest is spent on commercials.
It is important to speak out about bad ideas, we got into this situation by too many people refusing to say something when they should have.
And now it the tribal politics on both sides are causing issues.
