A moment came during which I was certain the Wichita lineman met a ring or maybe the ring of fire. It had to be that because otherwise there is no explanation for the ringing of the bells and a voice that told Johnny to come of the cave.
As sure as the sun shall rise tomorrow I knew that if I had been asked to come I would do just that and I don’t do such things easily.
Given the day that was it almost made sense because the phone rang at 4 it is too fucking early o’clock AM, not once, but three times.
The screen said the call was from Iran and the voice on the other side said child, but I came damn close to unleashing the seven or eight curse words I know in Persian.
Six or seven hours later there came another bath and a thought about how the video visit with the doc next week won’t provide the opportunity for some things to be checked out.
Maybe it doesn’t matter, maybe it does. Make a mental note to write a list of questions and laugh because I probably won’t.
It Is A Mad World
Been on not one, not two but 873 video calls for work and seen dozens of videos of video chats others have participated in that show the importance of paying attention.
Which is to say every day there seems to be a new video of someone not recognizing the camera and microphone is on while they take care of digestive issues, bodily functions and wander around their homes in various states of undress.
So I try to make a point to always be dressed in a shirt and shorts so that I never have to worry about whether the camera catches me off guard.
I try to ensure I take care of my business without companionship or any device that can record my activity.
Not because I fear being embarrassed but because during this mad world I need not add to that kind of hilarity.
****
And in the most of typical of an atypical time my ability to write unencumbered has been curtailed by unexpected challenges.
No matter, we’re operating off of instinct and echoes of the bells. This post isn’t what I want it to be but it is not so horrible it cannot be published.
It is somewhere in between and where it lies has everything to do with the opinion of the reader.
My eyes are tired of staring at computer screens so I’ll let things lie as they are and wonder again if what I think I heard is real or merely the wild imagination of a man stuck inside a single place for far too long.
My patience with my companions is beginning to wear thin. Think I better look into a walk.
