Someone asked me if it was true that I have written 10,000 stories and posts for one person and I nodded my head.
“Probably more, made a bunch of videos too.”
The reflection in the mirror didn’t give any sign that it was anything other than my own face responding to the words I said to it and that is a good thing, shows I still have a few shreds of sanity.
Wasn’t more than a couple hours after I received a telephone call in which laughter accompanied a voice telling me I need a vacation.
I laughed and told them they were correct and said tha I had already put in a request for the time.
“That college girl is home and in between seeing friends she is putting in a few hours each week at work to earn a couple of bucks, but I want to grab a few minutes with her so I am increasing my availability..”

Made a stop at a bakery I frequent so I could pick up some treats for a meeting I was on my way to and got stuck in line.
Didn’t expect to have that happen as I had thought I was there during an off hour but it did. So I stood in line and listened to someone ask questions about pistachio rugelach and buckeyes.
Didn’t ask them if they were from Ohio but shook my head at the idea of pistachio rugelach because I had seen it there before and it seems like an odd flavor.
Great Customer Service
I went for a ride the other day and decided to swing by the new donut shop that opened up a few miles way from the house.
It was after five on a Sunday and I had no expectation of them being open. I had only gone to see the hours they would be open.
I pulled into a space in front of the building, glanced at the door and started to back out when a woman ran up and waved at me.
So I rolled down the window and she asked me if I was interested a free box of a dozen donuts.
“We still have some. Take them home and try them out.”
I told her I had planned on coming by at some point and she said this would help me figure out if I had a favorite flavor and to come back soon.”
I nodded my head in affirmation and promised to be back soon. Mostly I wanted to see if the coffee is as good as someone said, but I figure the lady who must be the owner deserved something for great customer service.

A few weeks ago I realized the war and all of the acts of antisemitism have been taking a toll on me so I adjusted my consumption of the news somewhat.
It was important to do so because it was messing with my sleep a little bit and I realized that it was impacting my feelings about working out.
It wasn’t impinging upon my desire but increasing it and frustrating me a bit with recognizing that at 54 I am unlikely to get myself to where I want to be.
I won’t ever be 25 again or even 35 and unless science finds a way to help me roll back some of the wear and tear on this body that is just what it is.
It is not that I can’t do what I want to most of the time because I can, but I can feel the mileage. Even if I dropped some weight and got myself to the low single digits of body fat it just won’t happen.
I have crashed into too many bodies, thrown myself on too many gym floors and jumped off of too many roofs or out of trees.
This body doesn’t snap back as fast as it once did and though I feel relatively bullet proof I also notice the effect of the aforementioned tasks I have placed upon this vessel.
I don’t regret it, I have had quite a bit of fun but it doesn’t mean I don’t miss certain things or that in the back of my head I don’t want to be able to do as I used to just in case.
There is more and more gray starting to show up in my beard and upon the sides of my head. It is not enough to notice in most pictures but I enough that I recognized it is starting to happen.
Don’t really care much, it is more of an observation. I know more than a few people who will never get the chance to experience this, so it is kind of a gift.
A Gift From Dad
It’s a full 5.5 years since my father died and in the time since we have moved most of his clothes to new homes.
Some of it was given away and some of it was taken by various family members, but not all.
Recently mom asked if I was interested in one of his old jackets and after confirming my interest she shipped it out to me.
The first thing I did when I got it was go through the pockets because I knew there would likely be a gift from my father in one or more of them.
I knew from experience long before he died and from that which came afterwards that his pockets might hold business cards, candy or some other trinket of interest or use to him.
This time around it was candy, two Jolly Ranchers and the Anice shown in my hand. Gifts from the old man and I didn’t have to say ‘Trick or Treat.’
